Styrene Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average styrene import price amounted to $1,364 per ton, growing by 9.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% against the previous month. The import price peaked in September 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Saudi Arabia ($1,483 per ton) and the United States ($1,430 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,207 per ton) and Russia ($1,216 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Styrene Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average styrene export price stood at $1,440 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 13% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,533 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Morocco ($1,722 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($900 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Styrene Imports in Turkey
In 2022, overseas purchases of styrene decreased by -6.8% to 596K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 640K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, styrene imports expanded slightly to $920M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 137% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Styrene Exports in Turkey
In 2022, the amount of styrene exported from Turkey skyrocketed to 32K tons, rising by 119% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a prominent expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, styrene exports soared to $54M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 231%.
