Sugar Beet Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
The average sugar beet export price stood at $737 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $970 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($4,750 per ton), while the average price for exports to Timor-Leste ($200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+19.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Sugar Beet Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average sugar beet import price stood at $5,382 per ton in 2022, rising by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,105 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($5,871 per ton), while the price for Turkey stood at $333 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+9.5%).
Sugar Beet Exports in Indonesia
Sugar beet exports from Indonesia stood at 247 kg in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The smallest decline of -0.8% was in 2021.
In value terms, sugar beet exports rose slightly to $182 in 2022. Overall, exports showed a abrupt descent.

Sugar Beet Imports in Indonesia
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of sugar beet decreased by -25.3% to 68 kg in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 87%.
In value terms, sugar beet imports fell slightly to $366 in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 58%.
