Sugar Beet Price in the United Arab Emirates (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar beet import price amounted to $1,781 per ton, dropping by -3% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sugar beet import price increased by +60.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 26%. The import price peaked at $1,837 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,628 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($136 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average sugar beet export price stood at $1,216 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -33.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,830 per ton in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Maldives (+53.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of sugar beet was finally on the rise to reach 2.7 tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a dramatic shrinkage.
