Sugar Cane Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
The average sugar cane export price stood at $128 per ton in 2022, declining by -8.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a sharp descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 192%. The export price peaked at $7,068 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Lao People's Democratic Republic.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Papua New Guinea amounted to +98.0% per year.
Sugar Cane Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
The average sugar cane import price stood at $4,647 per ton in 2022, which is down by -23.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 555% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $6,083 per ton in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($9,333 per ton), while the price for Japan stood at $3,643 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+41.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugar Cane Exports in Thailand
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of sugar cane, when their volume increased by 2,290% to 520 tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a sharp decrease.
