Sugar Crop Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022
The average sugar crop import price stood at $788 per ton in 2022, reducing by -21.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 41%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,252 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,456 per ton), while the price for Spain ($582 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugar Crop Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar crop export price amounted to $878 per ton, falling by -47.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 2,610% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,677 per ton in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($3,035 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($506 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+19.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sugar Crop Imports in Serbia
In 2022, purchases abroad of sugar crops decreased by -40.2% to 33 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 93%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 83 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sugar crop imports shrank rapidly to $26K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 84% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $72K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
