Sugar Price in Luxembourg (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar import price amounted to $1,964 per ton, falling by -15.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 34%. The import price peaked at $3,125 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,501 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($1,243 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Sugar Price in Luxembourg (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar export price amounted to $2,784 per ton, with an increase of 50% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,737 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($6,033 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($2,589 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sugar Imports in Luxembourg
In 2022, approx. 435 tons of sugar were imported into Luxembourg; increasing by 11% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
