The average sugar import price stood at $2,152 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 18% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a temperate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 74% month-to-month. The import price peaked in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($4,670 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,823 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mauritius (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average sugar export price amounted to $821 per ton, shrinking by -16.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a abrupt slump.
