Sugary Soft Drink Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average sugary soft drink export price amounted to $788 per thousand litres, falling by -4.8% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $0.9 per litre. From April 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($1.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($433 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average sugary soft drink import price stood at $1.0 per litre in July 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 69% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1.3 per litre in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2.4 per litre), while the price for Sweden ($207 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Exports in Germany
In 2022, the amount of sugary soft drinks exported from Germany dropped to 1.4B litres, with a decrease of -8.7% on the year before. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.5B litres, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, sugary soft drink exports contracted to $878M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 26%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1B, and then reduced in the following year.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year.
