Sugary Soft Drink Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
The average sugary soft drink export price stood at $804 per thousand litres in November 2023, shrinking by -17.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 29% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1.0 per litre, and then contracted dramatically in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($2.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($521 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In November 2023, the average sugary soft drink import price amounted to $730 per thousand litres, with a decrease of -7.5% against the previous month. Over the period from November 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $789 per thousand litres in October 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($1.5 per litre), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($514 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Exports in Serbia
In 2022, exports of sugary soft drinks from Serbia surged to 268M litres, jumping by 74% against 2021. Overall, exports showed a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sugary soft drink exports skyrocketed to $162M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 75% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

For the fourth year in a row, Serbia recorded growth in purchases abroad of sugary soft drinks, which increased by 26% to 70M litres in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sugary soft drink imports skyrocketed to $46M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +67.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
