Sugary Soft Drink Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average sugary soft drink export price stood at $1 per litre in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 32%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1.4 per litre in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1.5 per litre), while the average price for exports to Australia ($0.8 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugary soft drink import price amounted to $0.9 per litre, with an increase of 3.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1 per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1.6 per litre), while the price for India ($0.6 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Exports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, approx. 451K litres of sugary soft drinks were exported from Sri Lanka; falling by -61.4% against the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate a sharp reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 109% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.2M litres, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, sugary soft drink exports reduced remarkably to $436K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a sharp shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 159%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.1M, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Sugary Soft Drink Imports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, sugary soft drink imports into Sri Lanka declined remarkably to 279K litres, reducing by -42.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 94%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 486K litres, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, sugary soft drink imports shrank dramatically to $254K in 2022. In general, imports recorded a deep setback.
