In 2022, the average sulphates; of magnesium export price amounted to $158 per ton, with a decrease of -12.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 9.4% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $577 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($242 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($152 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($577 per ton), while the price for China ($303 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of sulphates; of magnesia decreased by -23% to 12K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 302% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 15K tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
