The average sulphates; of nickel import price stood at $3,728 per ton in 2022, dropping by -7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,744 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,296 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($3,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 200%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,479 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($670 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($670 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 2K tons of sulphates; of nickels were imported into Vietnam; picking up by 29% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight reduction.
