Sulphites; of Sodium Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average sulphites; of sodium import price amounted to $648 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 35% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,025 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($1,073 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($609 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sulphites; of Sodium Imports in Germany
For the fourth year in a row, Germany recorded growth in purchases abroad of sulphites; of sodia, which increased by 6.1% to 7.4K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, sulphites; of sodium imports soared to $5.1M in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
