Sulphites; of Sodium Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average sulphites; of sodium export price amounted to $430 per ton, dropping by -10.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 4.5% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $666 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Portugal ($505 per ton) and Bulgaria ($490 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($391 per ton) and Suriname ($393 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Sulphites; of Sodium Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average sulphites; of sodium import price stood at $1,128 per ton in 2022, declining by -15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,327 per ton in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($1,986 per ton), while the price for Italy ($751 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sulphites; of Sodium Exports in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 50K tons of sulphites; of sodia were exported from Turkey; remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +42.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 44%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 50K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, sulphites; of sodium exports surged to $33M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
