In 2022, the average sulphites; thiosulphates import price amounted to $1,402 per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sulphites; thiosulphates import price increased by +18.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 51%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,150 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,820 per ton), while the price for China ($512 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 249%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,482 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Gabon.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Gabon amounted to -6.3% per year.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of sulphites; thiosulphateses decreased by -29.9% to 58 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a mild expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 88%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 106 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sulphites; thiosulphates imports dropped notably to $82K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 56%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $125K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of sulphites; thiosulphateses decreased by -31.8% to 30 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 44 kg, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, sulphites; thiosulphates exports fell markedly to $20 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp descent. The smallest decline of -16.1% was in 2021.
