Sunflower Seed Price in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sunflower seed import price amounted to $1,309 per ton, increasing by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,463 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($7,550 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($1,224 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+21.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average sunflower seed export price amounted to $8,875 per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $21,040 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Switzerland.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 59%.
