Sweet Potato Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average sweet potato import price amounted to $1,126 per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated perceptible growth from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, sweet potato import price increased by +55.4% against September 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2021 an increase of 25% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,552 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to January 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($1,443 per ton), while the price for China ($452 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Honduras (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sweet Potato Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
The average sweet potato export price stood at $2,333 per ton in 2022, picking up by 7.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 43% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,019 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to +13.6% per year.
Sweet Potato Imports in Russia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of sweet potatoes decreased by -12.3% to 2.6K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 126%.
In value terms, sweet potato imports dropped to $2.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year.

Sweet Potato Exports in Russia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of sweet potatoes, when their volume decreased by -38.7% to 1.6 tons. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 410%.
In value terms, sweet potato exports contracted significantly to $3.7K in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 612% against the previous year.
