Sweet Potato Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2023
The average sweet potato export price stood at $1,302 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 39% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 45% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,661 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($2,905 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($692 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Potato Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023
The average sweet potato import price stood at $1,129 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 14% against the previous month. Overall, the import price enjoyed a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 69% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,881 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,710 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($872 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+14.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Potato Exports in Slovenia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of sweet potatoes, when their volume decreased by -44% to 2K tons. Overall, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,354%.
In value terms, sweet potato exports dropped remarkably to $1.9M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 793%.

Sweet Potato Imports in Slovenia
For the fourth consecutive year, Slovenia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of sweet potatoes, which increased by 4.6% to 2.3K tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 223% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, sweet potato imports fell to $1.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 105%.
