Sweet Potato Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sweet potato import price amounted to $593 per ton, dropping by -9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,360 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

The average sweet potato export price stood at $1,312 per ton in 2022, increasing by 43% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted perceptible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 258% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,315 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany totaled $1,161 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+91.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Sweet Potato Imports in Turkey
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of sweet potatoes decreased by -2.5% to 688 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 152%.
In value terms, sweet potato imports fell to $408K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 164% against the previous year.
