In 2022, the average swine; live import price amounted to $441 per unit, jumping by 35% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,520 per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($924 per unit), while the price for France ($76 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+19.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, swine; live imports into Malaysia skyrocketed to 82 units, rising by 17% compared with the year before. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 94 units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
