Swine; Live Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average swine; live import price amounted to $255 per unit, declining by -6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 24% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $271 per unit in June 2023, and then fell in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($274 per unit), while the price for Lithuania ($156 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average swine; live export price stood at $156 per unit in July 2023, flattening at the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a measured increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, swine; live export price decreased by -3.0% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 30% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $161 per unit in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Slovakia.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +7.0% per month.

Swine; Live Imports in Poland

In 2022, the amount of swine; live imported into Poland expanded modestly to 6.9M units, with an increase of 4.3% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at 7.2M units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, swine; live imports soared to $483M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced reduction. Imports peaked at $554M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of swine; live was finally on the rise to reach 33K units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a sharp descent. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 95K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, swine; live exports skyrocketed to $8.4M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $14M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
