The average swine; live import price stood at $155 per unit in August 2023, leveling off at the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 9.4% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $161 per unit in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Spain amounted to +2.5% per month.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, swine; live export price decreased by -10.4% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $192 per unit. From April 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($175 per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany stood at $135 per unit.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.5%).
