The average swine; live import price stood at $63 per unit in 2022, falling by -4.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $86 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -1.0% per year.

Swine; Live Imports in Turkey

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of swine; live decreased by -18.8% to 376 units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 463 units in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, swine; live imports shrank dramatically to $24K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 80%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $30K, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
