Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in Peru (FOB) - 2021
The average temporarily preserved vegetable export price stood at $685 per ton in April 2020, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2020 an increase of 3.1% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $719 per ton. From March 2020 to April 2020, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Chile.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Chile amounted to -0.0% per month.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in Peru (CIF) - 2022
The average temporarily preserved vegetable import price stood at $1,742 per ton in 2022, picking up by 8.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 88%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,835 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($2,915 per ton), while the price for Chile ($1,101 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+13.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Exports in Peru
In 2022, shipments abroad of vegetables (temporarily preserved) decreased by -14.7% to 16K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 16% against the previous year.
In value terms, temporarily preserved vegetable exports dropped to $13M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 20%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $14M, and then reduced in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 429 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, temporarily preserved vegetable imports declined notably to $467K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 9.1%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $560K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
