Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average temporarily preserved vegetable import price stood at $702 per ton in 2022, dropping by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $727 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($1,531 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($165 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average temporarily preserved vegetable export price amounted to $1,408 per ton, growing by 92% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced setback. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,262 per ton in January 2021; however, from February 2021 to January 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Italy ($8,209 per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($153 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Imports in Russia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of vegetables (temporarily preserved) decreased by -3.5% to 23K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 56%.
In value terms, temporarily preserved vegetable imports declined to $16M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year.

Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Exports in Russia
Temporarily preserved vegetable exports from Russia fell rapidly to 2.2K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -28.8% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 97%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.1K tons, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, temporarily preserved vegetable exports contracted significantly to $5.8M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 123% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $8M, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
