Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in the Dominican Republic (FOB) - 2023
The average temporarily preserved vegetable export price stood at $1,006 per ton in March 2023, with a decrease of -2.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 55% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,044 per ton in November 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to March 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,017 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada totaled $257 per ton.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+0.6%).
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Price in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average temporarily preserved vegetable import price amounted to $1,321 per ton, growing by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild decline. The import price peaked at $1,740 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,330 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($1,296 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Temporarily Preserved Vegetable Exports in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, the amount of vegetables (temporarily preserved) exported from the Dominican Republic contracted to 1.5K tons, which is down by -12.9% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.7K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, temporarily preserved vegetable exports shrank to $1.2M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 146% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.3M, and then contracted in the following year.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last three years.
