Titanium Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average titanium import price amounted to $78,595 per ton, jumping by 425% against the previous month. In general, the import price posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 450% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $83,356 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($178K per ton), while the price for Canada ($53,449 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+24.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Titanium Price in China (FOB) - 2022
The average titanium export price stood at $11,315 per ton in 2022, rising by 7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $12,502 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($23,900 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($6,624 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Titanium Imports in China
In 2022, the amount of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs imported into China expanded to 13K tons, picking up by 3.6% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 133%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, titanium imports shrank to $128M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 148% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $140M, and then fell in the following year.
