In August 2023, the average tobacco refuse export price amounted to $454 per ton, waning by -28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $737 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,096 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($98.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average tobacco refuse import price stood at $670 per ton in August 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, the import price enjoyed a mild increase. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $999 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Argentina.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkey amounted to +78.8% per month.
