The average tobacco refuse export price stood at $724 per ton in 2022, dropping by -13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 54%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $833 per ton, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($3,226 per ton), while the average price for exports to Venezuela ($262 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average tobacco refuse import price amounted to $260 per ton, reducing by -10.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced slump.
