In July 2023, the average tobacco refuse export price amounted to $785 per ton, falling by -2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 83% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,222 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,067 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average tobacco refuse import price amounted to $832 per ton, waning by -6.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 58% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,183 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
