Tobacco Refuse Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022
The average tobacco refuse import price stood at $998 per ton in 2022, surging by 4.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 17%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,511 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Zimbabwe ($2,191 per ton), while the price for Italy ($791 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malawi (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average tobacco refuse export price amounted to $156 per ton, dropping by -3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 92% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $535 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($220 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium amounted to $140 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ghana (+73.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the third year in a row, Ukraine recorded decline in purchases abroad of tobacco refuses, which decreased by -61.7% to 3.1K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a precipitous decrease. The smallest decline of -2.6% was in 2021.
