Toilet Paper Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average toilet paper export price amounted to $2,387 per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in July 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Swaziland ($3,156 per ton) and Malawi ($2,673 per ton), while the average price for exports to Zambia ($2,106 per ton) and Mozambique ($2,136 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lesotho (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average toilet paper import price amounted to $2,053 per ton, growing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
