Tomato Puree Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
The average tomato puree import price stood at $1,735 per ton in June 2023, growing by 25% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a noticeable increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, tomato puree import price increased by +37.2% against January 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 37% m-o-m. The import price peaked in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,350 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($840 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Tomato Puree Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
The average tomato puree export price stood at $2,165 per ton in June 2023, declining by -3.1% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a notable increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, tomato puree export price decreased by +0.7% against February 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 26% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,233 per ton in May 2023, and then fell slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($4,630 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($757 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Tomato Puree Imports in Hungary
For the fourth consecutive year, Hungary recorded growth in overseas purchases of tomato puree and paste, which increased by 3.6% to 13K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 13%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, tomato puree imports surged to $16M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
