Toy Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average toy export price stood at $11,254 per ton in June 2023, waning by -8.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 14% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $16,133 per ton. From November 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($18,883 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($9,048 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Toy Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average toy import price stood at $23,449 per ton in June 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $26,037 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($46,274 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($6,419 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Toy Exports in China
Toy exports from China contracted to 3.7M tons in 2022, waning by -7.7% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4M tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, toy exports amounted to $48.4B in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 38%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Toy Imports in China
In 2022, imports of dolls and toys into China rose remarkably to 37K tons, picking up by 12% against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
