Triticale Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2022
The average triticale import price stood at $292 per ton in 2022, picking up by 34% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, triticale import price increased by +61.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The average triticale export price stood at $240 per ton in 2022, which is down by -11.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $301 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($243 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia amounted to $211 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Triticale Imports in Latvia
In 2022, purchases abroad of triticale decreased by -60.3% to 2.8K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports faced a significant decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 26K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, triticale imports shrank dramatically to $825K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a dramatic shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.7M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
