Twine and Cordage Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2023
The average twine and cordage export price stood at $5,739 per ton in September 2023, shrinking by -16.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, twine and cordage export price increased by +52.2% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 48% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,889 per ton, and then contracted rapidly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($18,054 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($3,386 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Twine and Cordage Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average twine and cordage import price amounted to $4,590 per ton, growing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,082 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($8,834 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($2,449 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Twine and Cordage Exports in Latvia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of twine, cordage, rope and cables, when their volume decreased by -14.1% to 2.2K tons. Overall, exports showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 6.2%.
In value terms, twine and cordage exports contracted rapidly to $9.4M in 2022. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $12M, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Twine and Cordage Imports in Latvia
