Twine and Cordage Price in Panama (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average twine and cordage import price amounted to $2,626 per ton, shrinking by -34.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 42% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,283 per ton. From March 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($20,852 per ton), while the price for Guatemala ($1,899 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Twine and Cordage Price in Panama (FOB) - 2022
The average twine and cordage export price stood at $4,205 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6,113 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($6,442 per ton), while the average price for exports to Free Zones ($1,765 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Honduras (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Twine and Cordage Imports in Panama
Twine and cordage imports into Panama reduced rapidly to 1.4K tons in 2022, dropping by -25.6% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.9K tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, twine and cordage imports dropped significantly to $4.9M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a mild descent.
