Twine and Cordage Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
The average twine and cordage export price stood at $2,616 per ton in 2022, falling by -1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,029 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,902 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($1,359 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Twine and Cordage Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average twine and cordage import price amounted to $3,251 per ton, growing by 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The import price peaked at $4,540 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($4,813 per ton), while the price for Iran ($816 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Twine and Cordage Exports in Turkey
In 2022, overseas shipments of twine, cordage, rope and cables decreased by -18.3% to 18K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 51%.
In value terms, twine and cordage exports contracted notably to $46M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year.
