Tyre Price in India (FOB) - 2022
The average tyre export price stood at $63 per unit in 2022, rising by 24% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 28%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($155 per unit), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($2.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Tyre Price in India (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average tyre import price amounted to $113 per unit, growing by 37% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($829 per unit), while the price for Malaysia ($21 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Tyre Exports in India
In 2022, the amount of tyres exported from India fell to 47M units, shrinking by -10.8% against 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 62%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 53M units, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, tyre exports rose notably to $3B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +71.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
