Uncured Cheese Price in Kenya (CIF) - 2022
The average uncured cheese import price stood at $3,316 per ton in 2022, reducing by -30.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 54%. The import price peaked at $6,190 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,079 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,976 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+25.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Uncured Cheese Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average uncured cheese export price amounted to $10,587 per ton, with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($12,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($4,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+55.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Uncured Cheese Imports in Kenya
For the fourth consecutive year, Kenya recorded growth in supplies from abroad of unripened or uncured cheese, which increased by 41% to 36 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 200% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
