Vegetable and Melon Price in Iran (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average vegetable and melon export price amounted to $251 per ton, shrinking by -21.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 8.7%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $387 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($493 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($131 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Vegetable and Melon Price in Iran (CIF) - 2022
The average vegetable and melon import price stood at $659 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 27% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $736 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($1,228 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($313 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable and Melon Exports in Iran
In 2022, the amount of vegetables and melons exported from Iran dropped dramatically to 1.1M tons, with a decrease of -65.4% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a dramatic contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.1M tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.
In value terms, vegetable and melon exports reduced markedly to $268M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a significant curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 4.3%.
