Vegetable Product Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
The average vegetable product import price stood at $3,128 per ton in 2022, increasing by 10% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, vegetable product import price increased by +36.4% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $4,590 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($4,259 per ton), while the price for Spain ($896 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average vegetable product export price amounted to $1,389 per ton, falling by -30.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,275 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($3,542 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($433 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable Product Imports in the United States
Vegetable product imports into the United States stood at 39K tons in 2022, growing by 10% on 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
