Vermouth Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average vermouth import price amounted to $2.9 per litre, jumping by 24% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 42% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3.0 per litre in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to May 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($14.5 per litre), while the price for Austria ($1.9 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vermouth Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average vermouth export price amounted to $1.6 per litre, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 154% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3.8 per litre. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($2.6 per litre), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($1.1 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+27.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vermouth Imports in Hungary
In 2022, purchases abroad of vermouth decreased by -19.5% to 1.4M litres, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1.7%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.8M litres. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vermouth imports contracted rapidly to $2.7M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 7.3% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $3.6M in 2021, and then shrank notably in the following year.

Vermouth Exports in Hungary
In 2022, the amount of vermouth exported from Hungary fell notably to 90K litres, which is down by -16.5% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 189%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 108K litres, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, vermouth exports declined rapidly to $148K in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 207% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $179K, and then fell significantly in the following year.
