Virgin Olive Oil Price in Austria (CIF) - 2021
In November 2021, the average virgin olive oil import price amounted to $5,238 per ton, increasing by 3.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 14% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $5,271 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to November 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,027 per ton), while the price for Spain ($4,067 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Virgin Olive Oil Price in Austria (FOB) - 2021
The average virgin olive oil export price stood at $6,017 per ton in November 2021, dropping by -9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,514 per ton. From March 2021 to November 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In November 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($7,278 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($3,335 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Virgin Olive Oil Imports in Austria
In 2022, purchases abroad of virgin olive oil decreased by -6.9% to 8.6K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 9.2K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, virgin olive oil imports dropped to $41M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $46M, and then contracted in the following year.
