Waferboard Price in Kenya (CIF) - 2022
The average waferboard import price stood at $270 per cubic meter in 2022, waning by -3.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $280 per cubic meter in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($525 per cubic meter), while the price for Uganda ($172 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Waferboard Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average waferboard export price amounted to $382 per cubic meter, falling by -2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $397 per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ethiopia ($717 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($224 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ethiopia (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Waferboard Imports in Kenya
In 2022, waferboard imports into Kenya was estimated at 21K cubic meters, growing by 2.5% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 21K cubic meters.
