Wallpaper Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
The average wallpaper import price stood at $13,965 per ton in 2022, surging by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw notable growth. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $14,996 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($21,557 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($6,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wallpaper Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
The average wallpaper export price stood at $8,858 per ton in 2022, jumping by 26% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, faced a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $53,753 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($15,984 per ton), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($7,060 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+29.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Wallpaper Imports in Australia
In 2022, approx. 575 tons of wallpaper and wall coverings were imported into Australia; falling by -29.8% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 42%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 819 tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, wallpaper imports skyrocketed to $8M in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Wallpaper Exports in Australia
In 2022, shipments abroad of wallpaper and wall coverings decreased by -32.6% to 53 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 62%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 78 tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, wallpaper exports plummeted to $466K in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +29.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $549K, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
