Walnut Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average walnut import price amounted to $2,659 per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,077 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($2,696 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($2,451 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Walnut Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average walnut export price amounted to $3,018 per ton, falling by -13.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,040 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($6,232 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($2,120 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
