The average waxes; artificial, prepared import price stood at $1,255 per ton in 2022, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 32%. The import price peaked at $2,769 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,406 per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($5,344 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($863 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the fourth year in a row, the Philippines recorded growth in purchases abroad of waxes; artificial, prepared, which increased by 35% to 19K tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 140%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, waxes; artificial, prepared imports skyrocketed to $24M in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
