Wheat Gluten Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022
The average wheat gluten import price stood at $1,954 per ton in February 2022, stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 6.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in February 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,963 per ton), while the price for Italy stood at $1,925 per ton.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wheat Gluten Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
The average wheat gluten export price stood at $2,434 per ton in 2022, rising by 45% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,749 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($2,528 per ton), while the average price for exports to Aruba stood at $1,125 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Venezuela (-1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Wheat Gluten Imports in Colombia
In 2022, wheat gluten imports into Colombia fell rapidly to 1.8K tons, with a decrease of -25.3% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 102% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.4K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, wheat gluten imports contracted markedly to $2.7M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase.
