Wheat Gluten Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023
The average wheat gluten export price stood at $2,625 per ton in August 2023, growing by 24% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $3,497 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($5,739 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($1,926 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wheat Gluten Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023
The average wheat gluten import price stood at $2,212 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -11.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, wheat gluten import price decreased by -37.1% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 35% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,515 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,267 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,698 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wheat Gluten Exports in the Czech Republic
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of wheat gluten decreased by -5.4% to 3.2K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 7.8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3.4K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, wheat gluten exports soared to $8.2M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
